AN ACT to repeal Sections 300 and 304 of Article 43 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title
"State Board of Barber Examiners", and to enact in lieu thereof
new Sections 300 and 304 to stand in the place and stead of the
sections so repealed; and to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,
Sections 293, 295, 297, 298, 299, 305 and 306 of the said Article
and sub-title of the Code; and to add new Section 306A to the said
Article and sub-title of the Code, to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 306 thereof, generally amending the laws relating to the occu-
pation of barbering in this State and to the State Board of Barber
Examiners, AND PROVIDING THAT NOTHING IN THIS ACT
SHALL APPLY TO OR WITHIN ANNE ARUNDEL, CALVERT,
HOWARD, SOMERSET OR WORCESTER COUNTIES.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 300 and 304 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "State Board of
Barber Examiners", be and they are hereby repealed, and new Sec-
tions 300 and 304 be and they are hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to
stand in the place and stead of the sections so repealed; and Sections
293, 295, 297, 298, 299, 305 and 306 of said Article and sub-title of
the Code be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments; and new Section 306A be and it is hereby added to the
said Article and sub-title of the Code, to follow immediately after
Section 306 thereof, and all to read as follows:
293. The governor shall appoint a board of barber examiners for
the State of Maryland. The board shall consist of three members
[two of whom shall be journeymen barbers and one of whom shall
be a master barber, and] each of whom shall serve for a term of two
years from the date when his appointment shall take effect, except
in the case of an appointment to fill a vacancy. No person shall be
eligible to appointment as a member of said board unless he has been
continuously for five years last past engaged in the occupation of a
barber within this State.
295. Each member of such board shall receive as compensation the
sum of [Five] Ten Dollars ($10.) for each day necessarily and actu-
ally engaged in the performance of his duty as a member of said
board, and [Three] Seven Cents for each mile [necessary] neces-
sarily and actually traveled by him in attending the meetings of said
board, which sum or sums shall be paid out of any moneys in the
hands of the treasurer of said board.
297. The board of examiners shall have the power to appoint sub-
boards of examiners in such cities and villages of this State as they
in their judgment shall deem necessary. Said sub-boards shall each
consist of [one master barber and one journeyman barber] three
