(Senate Bill 238)
AN ACT to repeal Section 10 of Article 70A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Old Age Assistance", with respect
to "Payments to Incompetents"; and to repeal Section 20 of Article
30 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Deaf,
Dumb and Blind", sub-title "Public Assistance to the Needy
Blind", with respect to "Payment for Benefit of Recipient", due to
the fact that Federal funds cannot be paid to any guardian ap-
pointed under a special guardianship law.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 10 of Article 70A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Old Age Assistance", be and it is hereby
repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 20 of Article 30
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Deaf,
Dumb and Blind", sub-title "Public Assistance to the Needy Blind",
be and it is hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, sub-section (c)
of Section 43 of Article 88A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "State Department of Public Welfare", sub-
title "Aid to Dependent Children", changing the definition of a
dependent child and adding other relatives with whom a child may
live, in order to bring the State law into accord with Federal law
that has been or may be enacted governing Federal Aid to De-
pendent Children.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That sub-section (c) of Section 43 of Article 88A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "State Department of Public
Welfare", sub-title "Aid to Dependent Children", be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

(c) "Dependent Child" means a needy child under the age of
eighteen years (a) who has been deprived of parental support or
