AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 292 of
the Charter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore City (1949 Edi-
tion—being Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Salaries of Clerks of
Courts", providing for the compensation for the trust clerk of the
Supreme Bench of Baltimore City and providing also for the
appointment and compensation of a chief deputy trust clerk of the
Supreme Bench of Baltimore City.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 292 of the Charter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore
City (1949 Edition—being Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Salaries of Clerks of
Courts", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
292. The Comptroller of the State of Maryland is hereby directed
to draw a warrant upon the State Treasurer for the payment in equal
monthly or semi-monthly installments for the compensation pro-
vided in the State Budget, which shall be [$7,000.00] $9,000.00
annually, for the trust clerk to be appointed by the Supreme Bench
of Baltimore City, and which, for the chief deputy trust clerk, shall
be equal from time to time to the compensation of chief deputy clerks
in Baltimore City as fixed under the provisions of Section 25 of
Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, as amended from time
to time, for the supervision of the trust estates in the Circuit Court
and Circuit Court No. 2 of Baltimore City; payment of said salary
to be made out of any money paid by the clerks of the several courts
of Baltimore City into the State Treasury, and on the certificate of
some one of the judges of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City that
such trust clerk has performed his duties for the time so certified by
said Judge; the clerk of the Circuit Court of Baltimore and of the
Circuit Court No. 2 of Baltimore City are hereby authorized and
directed to appoint a chief clerk for each of their respective courts,
said appointment to be subject to confirmation by the Supreme Bench
of Baltimore city; the said trust clerk is authorized and directed to
appoint a chief deputy trust clerk, said appointment to be subject to
confirmation by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City; THE SU-
PREME BENCH OF BALTIMORE CITY IS AUTHORIZED AND
EMPOWERED TO APPOINT A DEPUTY TRUST CLERK and
when said appointments have been so made and confirmed the Comp-
