37F. (Extension of Time). Any common carrier railroad which is
unable on or before the effective date of this Act THE TIME PRE-
SCRIBED HEREIN to equip its cabooses as prescribed herein may
apply to the Public Service Commission for extension of time. The
commission may grant additional time, not to exceed six months TWO
YEARS ONE YEAR from the effective date of this Act, and during
such period the common carrier railroad shall not be subject to the
fine prescribed by Section 5 37E.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 121)
AN ACT to add. five SIX new sections to Article 19 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's
County", said new sections to be known as 77B to 77F 77G, inclu-
sive, to follow immediately after Section 77A of said Article, said
sections being added by Chapter 241 of the Acts of 1935 and
amended by Chapter 466 of the Acts of 1937, and to be under the
new sub-title "Fire Tax", relating to the levy of a special fire tax
in St. Mary's County and providing for a referendum thereto.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That five SIX new sections be and they are hereby added to Article 19
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"St. Mary's County", said new sections to be known as 77B to 77F
77G, inclusive, to follow immediately after Section 77A of said Article,
said sections being added by Chapter 241 of the Acts of 1935 and
amended by Chapter 466 of the Acts of 1937, to be under the new
sub-title "Fire Tax", and all to read as follows:
FIRE TAX
77B. (a) The provisions of this section shall apply to and be effec-
tive in the Second and, Eighth AND NINTH Election Districts of
St. Mary's County.
(b) The County Commissioners of St. Mary's County are hereby
authorized and directed to levy for the year 1958 and annually there-
after, a fire tax of not more than fourteen cents (14¢) on every one
hundred dollars of the assessed value of all real and personal property
located in the Second and, Eighth AND NINTH Election Districts.
(c) The said fire tax shall be levied and collected in the same man-
ner as other State and County taxes are now levied and collected.
