in said year on all outstanding bonds and the principal of all bonds
maturing in said year, the proceeds of said tax to be kept in a special
fund and in no case to be used for any other purpose. In case such
bonds shall be issued in any year after the making of the regular
levy for that year, then the County Commissioners of Charles County
are empowered, authorized and directed to pay any and all interest
becoming due before the next levy, out of any other funds at their
disposal, and to levy at the next succeeding levy an amount sufficient
to reimburse such other funds.

Sec. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 726
(House Bill 928)

AN ACT to add Section 45B to Article 7 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", to follow immediately after Section 45A
thereof as added by Chapter 694 of the Acts of 1939, and to repeal
Chapter 378 of the Acts of 1947, relating to an annual appropria-
tion by the County Commissioners of Carroll County towards the
expenses of certain medical students.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 45B be and it is hereby added to Article 7 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow immediately
after Section 45A thereof, as added by Chapter 694 of the Acts of
1939, and to read as follows:

45B. The County Commissioners of Carroll County are authorized
to levy and pay the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per year
towards the cost of tuition, board, books and other expenses of not
more than three students of medicine from Carroll County to be
selected and appointed by said County Commissioners in such manner
as they may determine; provided, that the said appointment shall
not be held by the same student for more than four years and that
each student receiving such appointment shall give bond to the said
County Commissioners for such amount, with such security as may
be approved by said County Commissioners, that he will reside and
practice medicine within Carroll County for not less than five years
after leaving medical school; and provided further, that the powers
herein conferred upon the said County Commissioners shall be con-
tinuing and may be exercised from time to time, except that such
payments shall not be made for more than three students of medicine
in any year.
