1819.

bridge company, the whole or any part of the said sum so autho-
rised to be raised by the said lottery, that in such case the said ma-
nagers shall be and they are hereby authorised to draw the said lotte-
ry, and apply the proceeds arising therefrom, to reimburse the said
stockholders, or other persons, who shall have advanced the same.
3. And be it enacted, That before the said managers shall proceed
to act, they or a majority of them, shall give bond as directed by
the act passed at the November session, in the year one thousand
eight hundred and eight, entitled, An additional supplement to the
act to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over Chester
river, at Chester town, and shall also give bond for the payment of
five per centum on all prizes to the state of Maryland, as directed
to be paid by the act passed at the December session in the year one
thousand eight hundred and seventeen, entitled, An act to regulate
lotteries.
4. And be it enacted, That in case of the death or refusal of any
of the said managers hereby appointed, the remaining managers,
or a majority of them, shall be authorised from time to time to ap-
point other persons to supply the vacancies occasioned by such
death or refusal.
5. And be it enacted, That any person who shall moor, fasten or
suspend, to the abutments or pins, or any other part of the said
bridge, while, it is erecting, or after it is erected, any vessel with or
without sails, raft, net or sein for catching fish, or any other float-
ing substance, or shall set any net or sein with poles in the said
river, within one hundred yards from said bridge, above or below
it, shall incur the penalty of five dollars for every such offence,
and the sum of three dollars for every hour such mowing, fasten-
ing, suspending, net, or sein set with poles, may be continued after
notice to remove the same, which penalties shall be recovered be-
fore any single justice of the peace for Kent county, in the same
manner as small debts out of court are recovered, and any sum so
recovered shall be for the use and benefit of the informer, provided,
the offence be sufficiently proved without his or her own testimony,
but if it cannot be sufficiently proved by other testimony than that
of the informer, in that case the testimony of the informer shall be
sufficient to recover the said penalties for the use and benefit of the
stockholders of the said bridge company.
6. And be it enacted, That instead of the draw which by the ori-
ginal act to which this is a further supplement is directed to be twen-
ty feet wide, it shall be the duty of said company to construct their
draw so as to afford a convenient passage to steam boats, or other
vessels up and down said river, at least thirty-five feet wide, with
wings on each side of said bridge at the draw, to be at least twelve
feet long and eight feet deep. ——.

CHAP. CLIV.

A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to facilitate the recovery of Debts due
from the several Banks in this State, and to compel the said Banks to pay Spe-
cie for their Notes, or forfeit their Charters.

1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
operation of the act, entitled, An act to facilitate the recovery of

debts due from the several banks in this state, and to compel the
said banks to pay specie for their notes, or forfeit their charters,
passed at the last session of the general assembly of Maryland, be
and the same is hereby suspended till the end of the next general
assembly of Maryland.
