CHAP. XCIX.

An Act to confirm and make valid the Acts and Proceedings of James Houston,
as a Justice of the Peace for Caroline County.

whereas James Houston, of Caroline county, was duly com-
missioned a justice of the peace in and for Caroline county for the
years eighteen hundred and eleven, eighteen hundred and twelve,
eighteen hundred and thirteen, eighteen hundred and fourteen,
eighteen hundred and fifteen, and eighteen hundred and sixteen,
and did qualify and act as such during the years aforesaid: And
whereas, the said James Houston hath since acted as a justice of
the peace without being commissioned, being under the impression
that he was still in commission, but that so soon as he discovered
that he was not in the commission of justices of the peace for said
county, did cease to act as such: And whereas, great inconveniencies
will result to sundry persons, unless the acts which have been done
by the said James Houston as a justice of the peace for Caroline
county since the years before mentioned, are confirmed and made
valid; therefore,
1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That all
acts and proceedings which have been done and made by the said
James Houston, since the years above mentioned, as a justice of the
peace for Caroline county, shall be as valid, and shall have the same
effect and operation in law, as if the said James Houston had been
duly commissioned and qualified as a justice of the peace of the
state of Maryland in and for Caroline county, according to the
laws of the state of Maryland.
