of the lot of ground owned by the. said children, situated at the
corner of High-street and Necessity-alley, in the city of Baltimore,
with the owners of the adjoining ground, for part thereof, and for
the parcels so given in exchange the said guardians shall make con-
veyances, and the parts received by the children shall be conveyed
to them; and if the said court shall determine that the benefit and
interest of said children would be promoted by leasing or selling
the said ground, they may order and direct the same, and the convey-
ance thereof, upon such terms as they shall deem proper; and the in-
vestment of the proceeds in such manner as in their judgment will
best secure the same, and promote the children's interests; and said
court may require bonds to be given, in such penalty as they shall
think proper, by said guardian, for the better securing the execu-
tion of this act, and the interest of said children.

CHAPTER 116.
A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the distribution
of a certain Fund for the purpose of establishing Free
Schools in the several Counties therein named.
Sec 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Thomas Turpin, Charles C. Brown, William Carmichael, William
R. Stewart. Daniel C. Hopper, Isaac Winchester, Walter K. White,
James Roberts, James Brown, William Gilbert, Richard J. Harri-
son, and John Hackett, be and are hereby appointed a board of
commissioners for the purpose of distribution and applying the fund
mentioned in the act to which this is a supplement.
2. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall meet at
the court-house in Centreville, on the first Monday in March and
second Monday of October next, and on the same days in each and
every year thereafter, and at such other times and places as may
be appointed by their own adjournments; and in case any vacancy
shall happen, the remaining commissioners, or a majority of them,
shall from time to time fill up such vacancy.
3. And be it enacted, That if a majority of the commissioners shall
not meet on any of the days herein appointed, or at any time by
them appointed,'the persons present tn;iy adjourn to sonic other day,
of which adjournment the absent commissioners shall have due no-
tice.
4. And be it enacted, That at the first meeting of said commissi-
oners, they, or a majority of them, shall choose one of their num-
ber to be president, and one other member to be secretary, and it
shall be the duty of the secretary to keep fair and correct entries (in
a book to be provided for the purpose) of all the proceedings of the
said commissioners; and all directions or orders for the payment or
distribution of any part of the said funds shall be signed by the pre-
sident and countersigned by the secretary.
5. And be it enacted, That the president shall draw on the trea-
surer of the western shore, from time to time, for such sums as may
be directed by the board of commissioners, and that the said trea-
surer shall be authorised to pay to the order of the said president,
signed by him, and countersigned by the secretary of said board,
such sums as he may draw of the said fund, to be applied to the edu-
cation of the poor children of the county;
