gers of the next lottery entitled to draw, and in succession the
managers of each succeeding lottery, in the order in which they
are entitled to draw, until all the lotteries aforesaid, authorised by
law to be drawn, shall either be forfeited in the manner herein be-
fore provided for, or shall have been drawn.
7. And be it enacted, That so soon as the managers of any lotte-
ry approved as aforesaid, shall notify the commissioners that they
are ready with the numbers, prizes and blanks, it shall be the duty
of the commissioners to appoint a time at their office, or some
other suitable place, to examine all said numbers, blanks and prizes,
and to superintend the preparing of the same, and putting them
into the wheels, and after the commencement of preparing the said
numbers, blanks and prizes, until the completion of the drawing,
the said commissioners shall have the care, possession and custody,
of said wheels, and use such precautions in keeping said wheels as
they shall deem necessary, so as to avoid mistakes or improper
practices with respect to the same; and whenever the managers
shall notify said commissioners that they are ready and desirous to
commence the drawing of any lottery, the commissioners shall pre-
scribe the days and hours of drawing, and the number of tickets
to be drawn each day of drawing; shall attend constantly said
drawings, except in the cases herein before provided for, and call
the numbers, blanks and prizes, as drawn, or cause the same to be
done under their inspection and direction; shall cause the wheels
to be opened and closed at the commencement and termination of
each drawing, in their presence, and have, the wheels carefully
locked up and under their care till the next drawing.
8. And be it enacted, That said commissioners in regulating the
days of drawing, and number of tickets to be drawn at each draw-
ing, shall act with just regard to the representation of the mana-
gers, and grant all indulgences required by them, provided that
the drawing of every lottery shall be finished in six months from
the day fixed for the commencement of the drawing.
9. And be it enacted, That said commissioners shall not be con-
cerned directly or indirectly in any lottery scheme, nor shall he
purchase, own, or be interested, in whole or in part, in any lottery
ticket in any lottery in this state, under the penalty of five thou-
sand dollars for each and every offence, to be recovered by action
of debt in Baltimore city court, in the name of the state, one half
thereof to belong to the informer, the other halt to the state of
Maryland.
10. And be it enacted, That in all cases where the managers are
authorised by law to raise a sum of money by drawing more lotte-
ries than one, and the managers shall propose a scheme of a lotte-
ry purporting to raise a less sum of money than they are thus au-
thorised to do, the said managers shall not have a right to propose
and draw any other lottery until all other lotteries authorised by
law shall have had an opportunity to be drawn.
11. And be it enacted, That no person shall be authorised or per-
mitted to divide tickets, and sell shares thereof, without permis-
sion of the managers, and having the said shares signed by autho-
rity of the managers as whole tickets are signed, and surrendering
to the managers the whole ticket so divided into shares, to be can-
celled and destroyed; and any person who shall sell shares of tick-
