To sell tickets
in any part of
the state.

To give bond.

all expenses and commissions on the sales of tickets, for the
purpose of paying the expenses already incurred in erecting a
church in Port Tobacco Parish, in Charles county, and such
further expenses as may be necessary to finish the said church in
a manner suitable for a place of public worship.
2. And be it enacted, That the said managers, or their agents,
may sell the tickets, or any of them, in any scheme of a lottery
which they shall make or propose for the purpose aforesaid, or
any interest therein, from time to time, as they may think proper,
and draw such lottery or scheme in any part of this state, with-
out being subject to the payment of any tax, penalty or forfeiture,
any law or ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding.
3. And be it enacted, That before the said managers shall
make or authorise any sale of tickets under this act, they shall
execute and file in the office of the clerk of Charles county court, a
bond to the state of Maryland, in the penal sum of forty thou-
sand dollars, with condition that they will well and truly pay to
the persons entitled to receive the same, all prizes which shall be
drawn in any scheme of a lottery that shall be made or proposed
by thorn in virtue of this act, the payment whereof shall be de-
manded within twelve months after the conclusion of the drawing
of such scheme, and will apply all such sum as shall remain in
their hands, after the payment of prizes, commissions, and other
expenses, to the payment of the cost and charges of erecting
and finishing the church of Port Tobacco Parish, in Charles
county.

CHAPTER 126.

An act for the sale of the Real Estate of Thomas C.
Bowie, late of Prince George's County, deceased.
Whereas it is represented to this general assembly, by the
memorial of Robert Bowie, the grand-father, Robert W. Bowie
the uncle, and Mary Bowie the mother, of the children of Thomas
C. Bowie, deceased, that the said Thomas C. Bowie died intes-
tate, leaving at the time of his death only three hundred and
ninety-six acres and one half of an acre of land, consisting of
two tracts of land, one called Padsworth, and the other Beall's
Lot, and that he left nine children, to wit: Mary, Camilla, Ro-
bert, Emily, Matilda, Thomas. John, George and Allen, all of
whom are now minors, amongst whom the above land at any
time would be incapable of being divided, and that a sale thereof
would highly conduce to their respective interests; and have
prayed that a law might pass for that purpose, Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said Robert Bowie and Robert W. Bowie, or the sur-
vivor of them, be and they are hereby authorised and empower-
ed, to sell the above land at public sale, to the highest bidder,
on the following terms, to wit: One ninth part of the purchase
money, with legal interest from the time of sale, to be paid to
each of the aforesaid heirs, or their representatives, at the seve-
ral and respective periods when they shall arrive at age, to wit:
To the said Mary Bowie, or her representative, in the twelfth
day of December, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-two ;
To the said Camilla Bowie, or her representative, on the twenty-
