No. 1.
Resolved, That his excellency the governor be requested to issue under his
hand, and the great seal of the state, to the honourable Alexander Contee Han-
son, who was on the eighteenth instant elected, on a joint i allot of both houses,
a senator to represent this state in the senate of the United States, to supply the
vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Robert Goodloe Harper, esquire, a
commission in the following words, to wit: The State of Maryland, to the hon-
ourable Alexander C. Hanson, Greeting. The Legislature of Maryland, re-
posing especial confidence in your integrity and abilities, hath appointed you se-
nator to represent this state in the senate of the United States, for the remainder
of the term for which Robert G. Harper, esquire, was elected, agreeably to the
constitution of the United States. Given under my hand, and the seal of the
state of Maryland, this 20th December, Anno Domini eighteen hundred and six-
teen.

Authorising
loan of rifles.

No. 2.
Resolved, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised
to loan to Lieutenant Colonel Richard K. Heath, for the use of the fifth regi-
ment of Maryland militia, seventy-five stand of rifles and accoutrements, &c.
taking bond, with security, for the return thereof in good order, when, required
by the executive of this state.

No. 3.
Resolved, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised
and required, to investigate the claim of William H. Marriott for military ser-
vices during the late war, and allow him such compensation as they in their
wisdom may deem reasonable, right and just.

Martin.

No. 4.
Resolved, That Luther Martin, esquire, chief justice of the Court of Over
and Terminer and Gaol Delivery for Baltimore County, be and he is hereby ac-
quitted and released from the payment of the sum of fourteen hundred and forty
dollars and thirty-one cents, with the interest thereon, which sum the treasurer
of the western shore is hereby authorised and required to pass to his credit, on
the judgment therefor, as additional compensation for his services since his ap-
pointment to said office.

Relating to
treasurers.

No. 5.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby di-
rected, with the advice and consent of the governor and council, forthwith to
direct the treasurer of the eastern shore, and other persons entrusted with the
receipt of public monies, what description or kind of bank notes will be receiv-
able by the state.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the eastern shore be credited in his account
with the treasurer of the western shore for the sum of four thousand two hundred
dollars and thirteen cents, which said sum is composed of the notes of country
banks, (received by the treasurer, of the eastern shore during the last year) not
on a par with the notes of the Farmers Bank of Maryland, and which the trea-
surer of the western shore is unwilling to receive.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the eastern shore be and he Is hereby di-
rected to take such measures, as he may think best calculated, with the least
injury to the interest of the state, to convert the said money into such money as
the treasurer of the western shore, with the advice and consent of the governor
and council shall direct.

No. 6.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be, and he is hereby au-
thorised and directed, to pay unto Samuel Frostier, of Harford county, or to his
order, annually, in quarterly payments, out of any unappropriated money in
the treasury, a sum of money equal to the half pay of a private soldier, as a fur-
ther remuneration lor those services rendered his country during her struggle
for independence.

Resolved, That the register of the land office for the western shore, be and
he is hereby authorised and directed, to grant a patent to Elizabeth Hauer, of
Frederick county, for part of lot number one hundred and sixty-three, lying in
the addition to Frederick town, in Frederick county, agreeably to the certifi-
