Part of a road
shut up.

Commissioners
allowance.

the public road to Church Mill, and will be superseded by the
road contemplated by this act, therefore, Be it enacted, That the
commissioners aforesaid, or a majority of them, when in their
judgment they shall be convinced that the road contemplated to
be opened, straightened and amended, by this act, is in such or-
der as will admit of travelling thereon without inconvenience,
they then shall order the shutting up of that part of the road from
T. B. to the Manor Road aforesaid.
5. And be it enacted, That the commissioners hereby appoint-
ed shall be allowed the sum of two dollars for every day (to be
ascertained by the levy court) they shall have attended in dis-
charge of the duties herein imposed, which is hereby directed to
be levied and paid as other county charges are; and the said
commissioners are hereby authorised to fill any vacancies that
way happen either by death, resignation, or refusal to act.

CHAPTER 145.

A Supplement to an Act, entitled, An act authorising a
Lottery to raise a sum of money to purchase a Lot of
Ground in Coxe's-Town, in Baltimore County, and to
erect a Building thereon to be used as a School-House
and Meeting-House.
Whereas the commissioners named in the above mentioned
law have declined acting under the same; Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Henry Ebaugh, Thomas Lemmon, Michael Armagost, Sa-
muel J. Alter, Ulrick Z. Bucher, John Fouble, (of Jacob,) and
William Murray, (of Wheeler,) or a majority of them, be, and
they are hereby authorised and empowered, in lieu of the mana-
gers named in said act, to proceed with the lottery authorised
therein, and to raise thereby the sum of twenty-five hundred dol-
lars, for the purpose of purchasing a lot of ground in or near
Coxe's-Town, in Baltimore county, and erecting a building there-
on to be used and employed as a school and meeting-house, up-
on their giving bond to the state in the sum of five thousand
dollars, with condition as prescribed in the act aforesaid, and
for the application of the money raised by said lottery to the
purchase of a lot in or near Coxe's-Town, and the erecting a
building thereon to be used as a school and meeting-house.

CHAPTER 146.
An act to Incorporate the Philomanthanean Society of
Upper Marlborough, in Prince George's County.
Whereas sundry persons, citizens of Prince-George's county,
have associated themselves together, and founded a society at the
town of Upper Maryborough, in said county, for the purpose of
promoting literature and science, denominated the, Philomantha-
nean Society of Upper Marlborough, and by their petition in
writing, applied to this general assembly for an act of incorpo-
ration; and the same being thought reasonable, Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That William Beanes, William Hill, Henry Ashton, Trueman
Tyler, John Read Magruder, Richard W. West, Samuel Clagett,
