Proviso.

Bond to be
lodged &c.

Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for Philip Nunama-
ker, Jacob Harbaugh, Junr. Michael Blessinger, Peter Trox-
ell, George Sheets, George Troxell, John Grabill, Christian
Witmore, Lewis Motter, George Fleck, Michael Schloss, Ja-
cob Troxell, (of John,) and Frederick Gelwick or a majority
of them, to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery, for
raising a sum of money not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars,
and sell and dispose of the tickets in said lottery and to draw
the same; Provided, that Philip Nunamaker, Jacob Harbaugh,
Junr. Michael Blessinger, Peter Troxell, George Sheets,
George Troxell, John Grabill, Christian Witmore, Lewis
Motter, George Fleck, Michael Schloss, Jacob Troxell, (of
John,) and Frederick Gelwicks, or a majority of them that un-
dertake to act under this law, shall before the sale or disposal
of any ticket or tickets in said lottery, give their bond to the
State of Maryland, in the penalty of three thousand dollars,
conditioned that they will well and truly apply so much money ,
arising therefrom, within three months after the drawing of the
said lottery shall be completed, as will satisfy the fortunate ad-
venturers for prizes drawn by them, and after deducting the ne-
cessary expences incurred in said lottery, shall within eighteen
months after the drawing of said lottery shall be completed,
apply the money raised by such lottery far the purpose of re-
pairing the church aforesaid.
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of
the said commissioners, before they act as such, to lodge the
bond entered into as aforesaid in the office of the clerk of
Frederick county court, thereto be recorded, and upon such
bond or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted
against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their legal
representatives for any breach or non-compliance with the con-
ditions of the same.

CHAPTER 48.
An act for making certain roads in Baltimore and Harford
Counties.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Henry Thompson, John Davis and William
Stansbury (of Abraham,) of Baltimore county, and John
Moores, James Steele and William Glenn, of Harford county,
shall be commissioners, who are authorised and directed to lay
out a road from the city of Baltimore toward the Susquehanna
river, and to branch the same into two branches, at such place
as shall appear to them best adapted to the public convenience;
and they shall lay out one of those branches through Belle-Air
to the Susquehanna river, at the place contemplated to build a
bridge at Rock Run, and the other branch through or to and
through the upper part of Harford county, in a direction to-
wards the bridge at McCalls ferry; and they shall lay out a
road from Belle-Air to the place contemplated to build a bridge
at the Rough Island or Conewango across the Susquehanna riv-
er; and said roads shall be laid out not exceeding sixty feet
wide; and a majority of said commissioners shall be competent
to perform the duties of the board, and before they proceed to
act, they shall take the following oath or affirmation: I. A. B.
do swear or affirm, that I will discharge the duties assigned to
