Lottery.

trustees of said Academy shall die, resign or remove out of
Prince George's county, the remaining trustees shall fill the va-
cancy thereby created at the next meeting that shall happen
thereafter.
3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be lawful for
the trustees of said Academy to take, receive and hold for the
use of said Academy any lands and the buildings thereon ;
Provided, that the yearly value of all the real property at any
time held by said trustees shall not exceed two thousand dollars.
4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be lawful for
the said trustees or a majority of them to propose a scheme or
schemes of a lottery or lotteries, for raising a sum of money
not exceeding five thousand dollars, and to sell and dispose of
the tickets therein, and may draw such lottery or lotteries ;
Provided, the said trustees or such of them as shall act under
this section shall before the sale of any ticket in said lottery
enter into bond jointly and severally to the State of Maryland,
in the sum of ten thousand dollars, conditioned, that they will
well and truly within six months after the drawing of said lot-
tery shall commence, apply so much of the money arising
therefrom as well satisfy the fortunate adventurers for prizes
drawn by them, and shall apply within one year thereafter the
balance to the erecting of an Academy in or near Bladens-
burgh, which road shall be recorded among the land records
of Price George's county, and upon which or an office copy
thereof, suit or suits may be instituted against, the obligors
therein or any of them, for any breach of the condition thereof
by any person interested therein.

CHAPTER 186.
An act authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money for com-
pleting an episcopal Church in Baltimore County.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Doctor Thomas Walker, Kinsey Johns, Jer-
emiah Ducker, James P. Boyd, Randle H. Moale, Nicholas
Brice, Thomas Moale, Joint F. Harris, William Gwinn and
George Winchester of Baltimore county, or such of them as
may undertake to act under this law, may and they are here-
by authorised to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery for
raising a sum not exceeding ten thousand dollars, clear of alt
expences, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof in the
city of Baltimore or elsewhere, to any person or persons what-
soever, any law to the contrary notwithstanding; Provided,
that before proposing the said scheme or schemes, the persons
aforesaid or such of them as may undertake to act under this
law, shall execute and lodge in the office of the clerk of Balti-
more county, their joint and several bond, to the State of Mary-
land, in the penalty of twenty thousand dollars, with a condi-
tion that they will well and truly pay or cause to be paid within
three months after the drawing of said lottery, to the fortunate
adventurers, such prizes if demanded as may be drawn by
them, with such deduction from said prizes as shall be mention-
ed in the said scheme or schemes to be proposed as aforesaid,
and shall well and truly pay the surplus as hereinafter directed,
which said bond shall be liable to be put in suit for the use of,
any person or persons who may be injured by a breach of the
condition thereof.
