CHAPTER 79.

An act for the benefit of persons who have emigrated into
this state since the adoption of the constitution of the
United States.
SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That in all cases where any alien hath
emigrated into this state since the adoption of the con-
stitution of the United States and hath acquired or be-
come entitled to lands and tenements therein, if such
person after such acquisition as aforesaid, hath been na-
turalized according to the laws of the United States then,
and in such case he or she shall quietly have, possess
and enjoy such lands and tenements in the same manner,
as he or she might or could have done if he or she had
been a naturalized citizen at the time of such acquisition;

shall be construed to interfere with or affect the rights or
interest of any other person or persons acquired before,
the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 80.

An act relating. to the poor of Caroline county.
SEC. 1, BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the levy court of Caroline county, be
and they are hereby authorised and empowered at their
discretion, to levy annually on the. assessable property of
said county, and cause to be collected a sum of money
sufficient for the support, and maintenance of not exceed-
ing ten poor out pensioners, ., in addition to the number

lowance to each of said pensioners shall not exceed thirty
dollars.

CHAPTER 81.

An act to straighten certain roads near the Little Falls
of Gun Powder.
SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Benjamin Wilson, Joseph Jen-
Kins, John Davis, Samuel Briscoe and Elias Glenn, be
and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and they
or a majority of them are hereby authorised and directed
to lay out and open a road from the Stave Ford on the Little
Sun-Powder to the city of Baltimore, and also a road
from Amos's or Baldwin's Mill on Little Gun Powder to
Long Green creek near Aquila Hall's mill, and said road
shall not exceed fifty feet in width, shall be laid out as near-
ly straight as the nature of the country will admit, and
said commissioners shall make out a plat of the roads as
aforesaid directed to be laid out and opened, and return
the same to the clerk of Baltimore county court to be re-
corded among the records of the county; and the said
roads when so laid out and opened, and the valuation of
damages hereinafter directed to be made, paid or secur-
