ended before they have attained that age, and also to
bind as apprentices the children of female convicts born
during their time of service, the males until twenty one,
females until sixteen years of age; and the indentures or
contracts of apprenticeship so made shall be recorded in
the orphans' court of Baltimore county within the time
and under the like penalties as are prescribed for record-
ing other indentures of apprenticeship.

CHAPTER 105.
An act for the support of James Upton, James Catterton
and Clare Stone.
SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the justices of the levy court of Bal-
timore county, shall and they are hereby empowered at
their next levy, and at their levy court annually, during
the life of the said James Upton, to levy on the assessable
property of said county, the sura of thirty dollars for the
support of the said James Upton, and that the same be
collected annually by the collector or the collectors of
Baltimore county, and paid to the said James Upton or
to his order.

Sum to be le-
vied for James
Catterton.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the justices of
the levy court of Calvert county, be and they are hereby
authorised and directed to assess and levy annually on
the assessable property of said county, the sum of twenty
five dollars, for the support and maintenance of James
Catterton of said county, and that the same be collected
annually by the collector of said county and paid to the
said James Catterton or his order in quarterly payments.

Sum to be le-
vied for Clare
Stone.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the justices of
the levy court of Saint Mary's county, shall be and they
are hereby authorised and directed to assess and levy
annually on the assessable property of said county a sum
of money not exceeding thirty dollars, for the support
and maintenance of Clare Stone, and that the same be
collected annually by the collector of said county, and
by him paid to the said Clare Stone or her order.

CHAPTER 106.
A supplement to the act entitled, "an act to fix and regu-
late the quality of Silver Plate Manufactured and sold,
or offered for sale, in the City of Baltimore, and for
other purposes.

Assayers may

mark & stamp.

Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for the assayer
appointed under the provisions of the act to which this is a
supplement, to assay, mark or stamp, any silver vessel
or vessels, plate or manufacture of silver whatsoever over
the weight of five pennyweights, which shall be brought to
him to be assayed, marked or stamped, within ten days

Proviso.

after the passage of this act; Provided, That the maker
or owner thereof shall produce to the assayer aforesaid, a
