Proviso.

had been stated to begin in said patent it the end of the
north, sixty four degrees west, two hundred and six
perch line of a tract of land called Hay Stack Mountain,
(surveyed for David Lynn;) Provided, That nothing
herein contained shall be construed to interfere with or
affect the rights of any person or persons acquired be-
fore the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 99.

Preamble.

An act for the benefit of David Williamson.
WHEREAS it has been represented to this General
Assembly by the petition of David Williamson, of the
city of Baltimore, that he purchased from Dr. Joseph
Mackrill part of a tract or parcel of land lying and be-
ing in Baltimore county, in this state, called Carolina or
North Carolina, and received a deed for the same from

the said Mackrill, dated on the ninth day of January,
in the year seventeen hundred and ninety-nine, execu-
ted, acknowledged and recorded according to law; And
whereas, it may be doubtful whether the said Mackrill
was a naturalized citizen according to the laws of the
United States at the time of the execution of the said
deed, and capable to hold real estate within this state;
the said David Williamson prays that his title to said
land may be confirmed, which prayer being reasonable ;
Therefore,

States title re-
linquished.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Mart/land, That the right, title and interest
of the state of Maryland, of, in and to all that part of
a tract or parcel of land called Carolina or North Caro-
lina, lying and being in Baltimore county, which was
conveyed or meant to be conveyed by Dr. Joseph Mackrill
to David Williamson, by deed bearing date on or about
the ninth day of January, in the year seventeen hun-
dred and ninety-nine, duly executed, acknowledged and
recorded amongst the land records of Baltimore county,
be, and the same are hereby released and relinquished
to the said David Williamson, his heirs and assigns.

2. AND BE IT EN ACTED, That the title to the said
part of the tract or parcel of land conveyed or meant to
be conveyed as aforesaid, shall be and is hereby vested
in the said David Williamson, his heirs and assigns ac-
cording to the purport, true intent and meaning of the
said deed, free, clear and discharged from all right,
title, claim and interest of the state of Maryland, of, in
and to the same, and in as full and ample a manner as
if the said Joseph Mackrill had been a citizen of the
United States at the time the said land was conveyed or
meant to be conveyed to him by a certain William Bu-
chanan, by deed bearing date in the month of Septem-
ber, in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety
eight, and executed, acknowledged and recorded in the
records of the county aforesaid; and as if the said Jo-
