CHAPTER 57.
An act for the benefit of Richard Newman, of Kent
county.
WHEREAS Richard Newman of Kent county, by
his petition to this General Assembly, hath represented
that he emigrated to, and settled in this state, and since
his emigration and settlement as aforesaid, but prior to
his naturalization, hath acquired real property therein,
and likewise that he is a native of the Kingdom of Great
Britain, and hath lately been naturalized agreeably to
the laws of the United States, and that he cannot hold
or dispose of the said real property without the interfer-
ence of the legislature; Therefore,

Preamble.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the title of the real property,
lawfully and fairly acquired by the aforesaid Richard
Newman, whether such title be derived by gift, grant,
purchase or devise, be, and the same is hereby as amply
and as ful1y vested in the aforesaid Richard Newman, as
if the said Richard Newman had become naturalized
agreeably to the laws of the United States before the

acquiring such real property; Provided always, That
nothing herein contained shall in any manner defeat or
affect any right, title or claim to the said property, or
part thereof lawfully acquired by any person or persons
whatever before the passage of this act.

Proviso.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That any deed or
deeds which have been executed by the said Richard
Newman for alienating, transfering or conveying any
real property, shall have the same force and effect as if
he had been naturalized at the time of making and exe-
cuting the same.

CHAPTER 58.

Deeds made
valid.

An act to lay out and make public a road therein men-
tioned, in Cecil county.
Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That James Jackson, Moses Scotland
John Hogg of said county be, and they are hereby ap-

pointed commissioners for the purposes of this act, and
that they or a majority of them, are hereby authorised
and required to lay out and make public a road not ex-
ceeding forty feet in width, beginning at or near Elk
Forge, and running over and with the private road to
William Howard's store, and thence to the Delaware
line through the lands of John H. Evans, John Ginn,
William Wilson and Elizabeth Passmore at or near a
place where is located in Delaware a road, from New-
ark to the Maryland line, ending on the land of the
said Elizabeth Passmore; and that they or a majority of
them, lay the road on the said private road from the said
