Vacancies.

carriers to be employed by the commissioners laying off
and amending the said road.
5. AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any of the
commissioners die, resign, refuse to act or be in any oth-
er way unable to act, the levy court of Washington
county shall appoint others in their place to fill such vacancy.

CHAPTER 140.

Benefits of
the insolvent
acts granted.

An act for the relief of James Chalmers, and Alexis
Romain, of the city of Baltimore.
Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the judges of Baltimore county
court be, and they are hereby authorised and directed to
extend to James Chalmers and Alexis Romain of the
city of Baltimore, the full benefit of the act of Assembly
passed at November session eighteen hundred and five,
and the several supplements thereto, without requiring
the said James Chalmers or Alexis Romain respectively
to produce the assent in writing of so many of their cre-

ditors as have due to them two thirds in amount of the
debts owing by them at the time of their several applica-
tions for the benefit of the said act and supplements.

CHAPTER 141.

Accounts to
be settled. Sum
to be levied.

An act for the relief of Aimer Neale, Francis Wills,
and John Cole of the city of Baltimore.
Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the levy court of Baltimore
county be, and they are hereby authorised and directed,
to settle the account of the said Abner Neale, Francis
Wills and John Cole, for work done by them on the
books of the orphans' court of said county, and to levy a
sum of money on said county not exceeding one hundred
and fifty dollars to pay and satisfy the same.

CHAPTER 142.

29, 1814.

An act authorising the erection of a fire proof building
for the safe keeping of the public land records of
Frederick county.

Sum to be
levied.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the levy court of Frederick
county be, and they are hereby authorised to assess and
levy upon the assessable property of said county, such
sum or sums of money as may be necessary to defray
the expences of erecting, finishing and completing a com-
modious tire proof building, for the safe keeping of the
public land records of the said county.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court
aforesaid shall be, and they are hereby authorised to
cause such building to be erected upon part of the public
ground in Frederick-Town, on which the court house
now. stands, and the same when completed shall be used,
