' CHAPTER 104.

An act for the relief of Sophia Pitt, of Dorchester county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland
That John Pitt, shall from the passage of this act, be, and he is
hereby altogether deprived of all and every interest, authority,
power and control, in over and to the person of Sophia Pitt, his
wife, as fully as if she had never been married.

2. And be it enacted. That the said Sophia Pitt shall be, and
the is hereby declared to be vested with the title to all and every
kind of property, real, persona! and mixed, now in her possession,.
in as full and ample a manner as if she were and always had been
a feme sole, and she is hereby declared capable to have, hold, take,
receive, sue for and recover by compromise, suit or suits in law or
equity, property of any kind whatever, real, personal or mixed, in as-
full and ample a manner as if she were a feme sole, and to use and en-
joy or dispose of the same at her will and pleasure, and may in her
own name, sue and be sued, as if she were a feme sole.
3. And be it enacted, That the said John Pitt shall not be liable
for any debts to be hereafter contracted by the said Sophia Pitt.

CHAPTER 105.
An act relating to the Turnpike roads within the city of Baltimore.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the presidents, directors and companies of the several turn-
pike road companies, owning roads running into the city of Balti-
more, be and the said presidents, directors and companies of the
said turnpike road companies, are hereby authorised and empow-
ered to cede such parts of the said roads as lie within the limits of
direct taxation, to the mayor and city council of Baltimore.

Proceedings

2. And be it enacted, That the said cessions shall be made by
each of the said companies, severally by deed to be executed, ac-
knowledged and recorded according to law, in the same way as
deeds are required to be executed, acknowledged and recorded
to pass real estate.

3. And be it enacted, That whenever the said cessions, or any of
them are made according to the provisions of this act of assem-
bly, that all such parts of the said roads so ceded as aforesaid,
shall be and the same are hereby declared to be public streets and
highways, and subject as such public streets and highways to the
ordinances of the city.

4. And be it enacted, That the said turnpike road companies, shall
not, nor shall any of them be compelled to remove any of their toll
gates, in consequence of the said cessions, or any of them, any
thing in any other act of assembly to the contrary thereof in any
wise notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 106.

An act to divorce Mary Snowden, and her husband, John Snowden, of
Cecil County.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John Snowden shall from the passage of this act, be, and he
is hereby altogether deprived of all and every interest, authority,
power and control, in over and to the person of Mary Snowden.
