Dividends.

the said capital shall not be so increased as to exceed twenty thou-
sand dollars.
19. And be it enacted, That there shall be a semi annual divi-
dend of profits upon the shares of stock; and that the first shall
be made on the first Monday of February, in the year eighteen
hundred and twenty-six; if the sum then received, shall be deem-
ed sufficient for that put pose, and semi annually thereafter.

Quorum.

20. And be it enacted, That a majority of said directors shall
be competent to transact all the business, and discharge all the du-
ties, authorised and directed by this act.

Re-opening
subscription
books.

21. And be it enacted, That if subscriptions shall not be re-
ceived by said commissioners, to the amount of one half of the
capital as aforesaid, in that case, the said commissioners, or a
majority of them, shall and are authorised to re-open the books of
subscription from time to time, until one half of said capital shall
be subscribed, provided that the same notice be given of such re-
opening as is directed in the first instance.

Levy, $800.

CHAPTER 6.

A further supplement to an act, entitled, An act empowering the Levy Court
of Cecil County, at their discretion, to levy a sum of money to build a
bridge over Octorara Creek, in said county, at or near Samuel Rowland's
Store.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy court of Cecil county are hereby authorised and re-
quired to levy on the assessable property of said county, a sum of
money not exceeding eight hundred dollars, for the purpose of
erecting a bridge over Octorara creek, at or near Samuel Row-
land's store.

$200 annually.

2. And be it enacted, That the justices of the levy court of said
county, shall at the first annual levy made after the passage of this
act, levy upon the assessable property in said county, the sum of
two hundred dollars, and annually the same sum of two hundred
dollars, until they have levied the sum of -eight hundred dollars.

Commission-
ers.

3. And be it enacted, That Washington Hall, Edmund Physic
and Evan Lewis, be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners,
with power to view, fix and determine the scite for said bridge, so
to be built, and to contract with, and employ any person or persons
to build and complete the same.

Payment to
them.

4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the said justices of
the levy court, to pay over to the said Washington Hall, Edmund
Physic and Evan Lewis, the several sums of money when col-
lected.

Settlement--
compensation.

5. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of said com-
missioners, after the completion of the said bridge, to settle ac-
counts with the levy court of said county, and that it shall not be
lawful for them to charge a sum exceeding twenty dollars each,
for their own services.

Repeal.

6. And be it enacted, That any thing in the said original act, or
any supplement to the same, that is repugnant to, or inconsistent with
the provisions of this act, shall be, and the same is hereby repealed.

Bonds.

7. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the levy court
of said county, to take bond with approved security, from said
