2. And be it enacted, That each justice of the peace shall have,
for every bond by him so approved, twenty-five cents, to be paid
by the party presenting such bond.

CHAPTER 64.
An act to lay a Tax on Billiard Tables.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the clerk of each county, be, and he is hereby empowered and
authorized to 'grant a license to such person or persons as may ap-
ply for permission to keep a billiard table, for which license there
shall be paid the sum of one hundred dollars.

2. And be it enacted, That during the continuance of this act, all
licenses for keeping billiard tables, shall be renewed annually, on
the first Monday of April, on pain that any person thus omitting
or neglecting to renew his license, and continuing to keep open his
billiard table for use, shall be liable to all the penalties mentioned
in this act; and provided, that any person applying for a license
after the first Monday of April, shall pay in proportion to the time
the said license has to run, ending on the day immediately prece-
ding the first Monday of April annually.

3. And be it enacted. That any person or persons keeping or ex-
hibiting for use, a billiard table or tables, without first obtaining
a license as aforesaid, shall forfeit and pay the sum of five hundred
dollars; one half to the informer, and the other half to the state,
to be recovered in the county court in which such offence may be
committed.

4. And be it enacted, That the clerks of the several counties shall
pay to the treasurer of the Western or Eastern Shore, as the case
may be, all the monies received under the provisions of this act, at
the same time and in the same manner, that the amount received
for marriage licenses is payable.

5. And be it enacted, That the county clerks of the several coun-
ties shall annually, on or before the first day of May, transmit to
the treasurer of their respective shores, a list of all persons obtain-
ing licenses under this act.

6. And be it enacted, That all laws inconsistent with, or repug-
nant to the provisions of this act, be, and the same are hereby re-
pealed.

7. And be it enacted, That nothing contained in this act, shall be
taken or construed to impair the right of the corporations of the
cities of Baltimore, Annapolis, Frederick, or the commissioners
of the town of Easton, or of any other incorporated town in this
state, to impose any further or additional tax upon billiard tables.

CHAPTER 65.
A supplement to an act entitled. An Act relating to the trial of causes in
Baltimore county court.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the judges of Baltimore county court, be, and they are hereby au-
thorized and required to assign and allot so much of the first part
of each term of the said court, as shall be thought necessary for
the trial of causes and hearing of appeals in which the defendants
shall have been residents of the county, without the limits of the
