Monies to be
paid in case of
death of
clerks, &c.

held or construed to exempt any clerk or register, or their securities
from liability on his bond, for breach or neglect of duty.
10. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the Sheriffs of
the several counties and other persons authorised to collect the fees
of the clerks and registers herein mentioned, on the death, removal or
resignation of any of the said clerks or registers, to pay all fees col-
lected by them to the successor of the officer dead, removed or resign-
ed, to be by him applied as herein before directed.

Treasurer's
duty.

11. And be it enacted, That upon the failure, refusal, or neglect
of any of the aforesaid clerks or registers to perform the duties pre-
scribed by this act, it shall be the duty of the Treasurer of the Shore,
on which such clerk or register may reside, to make known such fai-
lure, refusal or neglect, immediately to the Attorney General and the
Executive of the state of Maryland and to the Legislature at the com-
mencement of their next session.

12. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the Attorney
General upon receiving such information from the Treasurer, or as
soon as he shall in any manner be informed of such failure, neglect
or refusal, to institute and prosecute all proper and lawful process
against such clerk or register, and their securities, to enforce their
compliance with the duties prescribed to them in this act, and to pun-
ish such clerk or register for such failure, refusal or neglect.

CHAPTER 147.

An act to repeal the fourth and fifth sections of an act entitled, An act to relieve
the people of this state, as far as practicable, from the evils arising from the
demands made on the Banks of this state for Gold and Silver by brokers, and
to prohibit the Officers of the several Banks from buying and selling Bank
Notes of the Banks of this state at a less price than their nominal value, pass-
ed at December session, 1818, chapter 191.

Repeal.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
fourth and fifth sections of the above recited act, be, and the same are
hereby repealed, as far as the same relates to the sale or disposition
of foreign Gold or Silver coin.

Preamble.

CHAPTER 148.
An act to incorporate the Fell's Point Wesleyan Sabbath School.
Whereas, it is represented to this general assembly, that John
G. Chappell, Joseph Sumwall, John B. M. L. Tournan, Philip S.
Chappell, together with sundry other persons in the city of Balti-
more, have formed themselves into a society for the purpose of
teaching children on the Sabbath and. are desirous of obtaining an
act of incorporation to enable them more fully to carry their benevo-
lent design into effect. And whereas this general assembly is willing
to aid and encourage an institution so truly praiseworthy in its ob-
ject;—Therefore,

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said John G. Chappell, Joseph Sumwall, John B. M. L. Tour-
nan, Philip S. Chappell, together with sundry other persons com-
posing the said society, and all such persons as may hereafter be ad-
mitted into their said society agreeably to the present constitution,
rules and bye-laws of the same, or such alterations and amendments
of the constitution, or new rules and regulations as may hereafter be
made and adopted by the said society, shall be and they and their suc-
cessors are hereby declared to be one community corporation and
body politic forever hereafter, by the name and style of the Wes-
leyan Sabbath School society of Fells' Point, and by that name they
