from the sale of the said real estate in such stock or fund as the said
court shall from time to time deem most proper and secure, so that
the said Josias Young may have and enjoy the income of the same
for the use and benefit of himself and family during his life, and so
that should his wife survive him the same may be applied to the sup-
port and comfort of her and her children, as the said court may di-
rect, and so that after the death of the said Josias Young and Evilina,
his wife, the said money, stock or fund shall descend to their children;
and upon the death of them or either of them, shall be subject to the
like operation of law and rules of descent as would have governed
the aforesaid real estate if no such sale had been made, and that a co-
py of such bond under the seal of the Orphan's court of Charles coun-
ty shall be as good and sufficient evidence, in any suit brought on
the same, in any court in this state as if the original were produced
and legally proved.

CHAPTER 71.

An act to incorporate the Fell's Point beneficial Society of Baltimore.
Whereas, Alexander J. W. Jackson, William Evans, John
Wright, Anthony Tall, M. G. Schade, Bartholemy Dorney, Frederick
Teut, William Wiley, Lewis Ealer, Peter B. Lucas, Thompson Ran-
dolph, Wesley Evans, James Horsford, Stephen Bradley, Peter Don-
nelly, L. Mills, Samuel Baxter, John D. Ganis, John Fassett, Henry
Walton, A. Parks, and others, have formed themselves into a socie-
ty for the laudable purpose of affording relief to each other and their
respective families in the event of sickness, distress and death, and
have prayed an act of incorporation that they may the better execute
their intentions; and the legislature being desirous of promoting such

useful institutions—Therefore,

Preamble.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Alexander J. W. Jackson, William Evans, John Wright, Anthony
Tall, M. G. Schade, Bartholemy Doney, Frederick Teut, William
Wiley, Lewis Ealer, Peter B. Lucas, Thompson Randolph, Wesley
Evans, James Horseford, Stephen Bradley, Peter Donnely, L. Mills,
Samuel Baxter, John D. Ganis, John Fasset, Henry Walton, Abra-
ham Parks, and others, that now are, or may hereafter become mem-
bers of the said society, according to the constitution and bye-laws
thereof, be, and they are hereby created, and made a corporation and
body politic forever hereafter under the name of the Fell's Point
Beneficial Society.

Incorpora-
tion.

2. And be it enacted, That the officers of the society shall consist
of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, directors, mes-
senger, committee of investigation and stewards, the six former of
whom shall be elected by ballot at the annual meeting in September
in every year, and the latter in the same manner semi-annually, com-
mencing at the same time, a majority of the members present being
necessary to constitute a choice; the society shall also have power to
appoint such other officers as may be deemed expedient and necessa-
ry in such manner as may be thought proper.

Officers, &c.

3. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid members and their suc-
cessors by the same name shall be able and capable in law, to pur-
chase, have and enjoy to them and their successors in fee or any less
estate or estates, any lands or tenements, annuities, pensions or other
hereditaments within this state, by gift, grant, bargain, sale, aliena-
tion, enfeoffment, release or confirmation of any person or persons,
bodies corporate or politic capable to make the same, and such lands,
