CHAPTER 38.

An act further to extend the term fixed for the completion of the Turnpike
Road loading from Boonsborough to Swearingen's Ferry, in Washington
county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
further term of five years be, and the same is hereby granted to the
president, managers and company of the Boonsborough Turnpike
Company, to complete the turnpike road leading from Boonsborough
to Swearingen's Ferry, in Washington county, after the expiration of
which additional term, the right of the said company to the said road
shall revert to the county agreeably to the provisions of the original
act incorporating the said company, if the said road shall not then be
completed.

CHAPTER 39.

An act to change the place of holding the election in the Fourth Election District
in Worcester County.
Whereas, it has been represented to this General Assembly by
sundry inhabitants of the fourth election district of Worcester coun-
ty, that they labor under serious inconveniences from the place of
holding their elections;—Therefore,

3, 1824.
Preamble.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the judges of elections of the fourth election district of Worcester
county be, and they are hereby authorised and directed to hold in fu-
ture the elections of said district at the place called Derickson's Cross
Roads, in such house as to them may seem most convenient.
2. And be it enacted, That when the said judges have made choice
of a fit and proper house at said Cross Roads for holding elections,
and shall have returned a certificate thereof under their hands and
seals, or the hands and seals of a majority of them to the clerk of the
county court in said county to be recorded, the same shall thereafter
be the place of holding the elections for the fourth election district,
any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

3. And be it enacted, That the said judges shall return said certi-
ficate to the clerk of Worcester county court, on or before the fif-
teenth day of July next, and the clerk shall record the same among
the records of Worcester County Court.

CHAPTER 40.

An act to repeal an act for the destruction of Crows in Calvert county.
Be it enacted by the general assembly of Maryland, That the act
for the destruction of Crows in Calvert County, passed at December
session, eighteen hundred and twenty-one, chapter fifty-nine, be, and
the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 41.
An act to enable Joseph Smith, of Anne Arundel county, to purchase and hold
real property within this state
Whereas, Joseph Smith, of Anne Arundel county, a native of
the Kingdom of Great Britain, wishes to purchase or has purchased
certain parcels of real estate in this state, with the intention to set-
tle permanently therein, and become a citizen of the United States,
according to the laws thereof; Therefore,

6, 1824.
Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall
and may be lawful for the the said Joseph Smith, to have, hold, pos-
sess and enjoy all real property heretofore acquired by him, or which
he may hereafter acquire, in the same manner to all intents and pur-
