Proviso.
|
ted in United States stock;—Provided, that the said banks shall be-
fore they shall be authorised to make any purchases of the United
States stock, report to the treasurer of the western shore, the amount
of the present United States stock which they have on hand, and that
they annually report thereafter on the first day of January to the
treasurer of the western shore the amount of the purchases of stock
which they shall purchase by virtue of this law;—and provided, also,
that it the said bank shall at any time refuse or neglect to comply
with the provisions of this act, the authority herein before granted,
to them, shall cease, determine, and forever thereafter be void and of
no effect.

CHAPTER 210.
An act relating to Baltimore City Court.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
in all cases of misdemeanors which may hereafter be prosecuted in
Baltimore City Court, at the instance of any individual or individuals
where the party or parties so prosecuted shall be acquitted, all the
legal costs and expences attending any such prosecution shall be paid
by the individual or individuals at whose instance such prosecution
was commenced, unless the judges of the said court, or a majority of
them shall certify that there was probable cause for such prosecution.

recovered.
|
2. And be it enacted, That such process may be issued for the
recovery of the costs and expences aforesaid, against the individual
or individuals who may become liable for the same under this act, as
could be issued against the party or parties prosecuted for the offence
aforesaid in case he, she or they be convicted.

endorsed.

3. And be it enacted, That whenever the grand juries attending
said Baltimore City Court shall find any presentment against any
person or persons for a misdemeanor, the said grand jury are hereby
authorised and required to endorse on said presentment the name or
names of the person or persons, at whose instance such presentment
is made, who shall be deemed and taken to be the person or persons
at whose instance such prosecution was commenced within the mean-
ing of this act.

CHAPTER 211.
A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to establish State Warehouses for the
Inspection of Tobacco in the City of Baltimore.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it
shall be the duty of the inspectors of Tobacco for the City of Balti-
more, appointed under authority of the act to which this is a supple-
ment, to take charge of all the Tobacco remaining in the warehouses
in the City of Baltimore, at the time the said act goes into operation,
and the same to inspect if thereto required, and deliver out to the
owners whenever it is demanded, and all the charges accruing on said
Tobacco, the said inspector shall forthwith pay over to the proprietor
or proprietors of the said warehouses, or their representatives, in
the same manner that the said charges have heretofore been paid;

and the said inspectors are further required to make out an accurate
list of the number of hogsheads, the number and mark of each hogs-
head, the gross tare and nett weight of each hogshead so remaining
in the said warehouses, and the said list to return to the County Court
of Baltimore County, to be by said Court recorded in the clerk's of-
fice of Baltimore County.
