the property belonging to the said wards, that the said orphans' court
if they shall deem it advisable and advantageous to the interest of
the said orphan children, shall be and they are hereby empowered to
authorise and direct such sale or sales, lease or leases under such con-
ditions and restrictions as the said court shall think proper.

2. And be it enacted, That every proceeding of the said guar-
dians had in pursuance of the order of the orphans' court aforesaid
in the premises, be, and the same is hereby ratified and made valid
to every intent and purpose; Provided, that the said proceedings be-
fore they take effect shall be submitted to the inspection of the said
court, and by them approved and confirmed.

CHAPTER 127.

An act for the relief of the securities of Thomas Bailey, former col-
lector of the tax for Baltimore county and city.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
commissioners of the tax for Baltimore county and city be and they
are hereby authorised and directed, to ascertain and fix the proba-
ble amount of money that appears to be due Thomas Bailey, collec-
tor of said county and city, in consequence of payments made by
him on the property of insolvents for the year eighteen hundred and
five, in the same manner as if the return had been made in time to
the said commissioners, and this allowance when ascertained and fix-
ed shall be an offset against the claim of the levy court of Baltimore
county against the said Bailey as collector of the tax, and his secu-
rities.

CHAPTER 128.

A supplement to an act, entitled, An act respecting' certain land certi-
ficates.
WHEREAS, by an act passed at November session, 1804, chapter
75, it was provided that all surveys of land made in Allegany coun-
ty prior to the passage of said act, and not compounded upon should
be vacated unless compounded upon by the first day of August then
next or secured by warrant of proclamation; and whereas also, there
has been made sundry other large surveys in said county since the
passage of said act, and which remain uncompounded upon and by
the regulation of the land office the same cannot be taken except by
proclamation and that for the whole tract which prevents numbers of
persons from taking them up, which they otherwise would do for the
purposes of settling on them; therefore,

Preamble.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all certificates of surveys of lands made in Allegany county since the
passage of the act to which this is a supplement and not compound-
ed upon, and which are now liable to proclamation, be, and the same
are on and after the first day of August next, unless then paid on,
made or vacated null and void, and placed upon the same footing with
all other vacant land in said county, and liable to be effected in the
same manner and in any quantity without being bound by or paying
any regard to the aforementioned surveys.

2. And be it enacted, That all fifty acre lots of the reserved lands
westward of Fort Cumberland, which have not been allotted to sol-
diers or sold by the state, nor compounded upon by settlers, shall be,
and they are hereby liable to be taken, by any person or persons, as
another vacant lands are in said county of Allegany, & that all such lots
which have been heretofore taken up by any person or persons under
