5. And be it enacted, That the said trustee shall be entitled to such
compensation for his services under this act as the Governor and
Council may under all circumstances think he ought to be allowed.

CHAPTER 56,
An act for the benefit of William Martin of Harford County.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That William
Martin of Harford County, shall be and he is hereby declared capa-
ble in law to take, hold and transmit by deed, devise, descent or dis-
tribution, any estate or property which his father William Martin,
deceased, may have devised, to him by his last will and testament, as
fully and effectually as if he the said William Martin were a natur-
alized citizen of the United States. Provided, that he shall become

naturalized as early as by law he is enabled so to do. Provided also,
that nothing herein contained shall bar or defeat or otherwise inter-
fere with any legal or just claim to, or against the estate so devised.

CHAPTER 57.
An act to incorporate a Company to make a Wharf at the Town of
Cambridge in Dorchester County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
a Company be incorporated to make a Wharf, extending from some
point at the end of High Street in the Town of Cambridge, in Dor-
chester County, to the navigable water of Choptank river, the said
point to be fixed upon by the President and Managers of said Com-
pany to be appointed under the provisions of this act.

2. And be it enacted, That subscription books be opened for a
capital stock of four thousand five hundred dollars in shares of thirty
dollars each, and that subscriptions be taken in the Town of Cam-
bridge under the direction of Samuel Lecompte, Thomas Locker-
man, James Chaplain, Henry M. Steele, Col. Ezekiel Richardson
and Joseph E. Muse, who are hereby appointed Commissioners for
the purpose aforesaid, who shall, on or before the first Tuesday in
March next, procure books, and in each enter as follows, to wit;
"We whose names are hereunto subscribed, do promise to pay the
President and Managers of the High Street Wharf Company, the
sum of thirty dollars for every share of stock in said Company set
opposite to our respective names, witness our hands this day of
eighteen hundred and twenty " and shall give notice in the
Easton papers for three weeks of the times when, and places where,
the said books will be open to receive subscriptions of stock for the
said Company, at which times and places at least two of the said
respective Commissioners shall attend, and shall permit and suffer
all persons who shall offer to subscribe in person or by attorney duly
authorised, in the said books, which shall be kept open for that pur-
pose at least four hours every day for the space of three days, if
1 three days shall be necessary; Provided, That every person offering
to subscribe in the said books in his own name, or in the name of
any other person, shall upon subscribing pay to the attending Com-
missioners one dollar for every share to be subscribed.

3. And be it further enacted, That when one hundred shares or
more of the stock in the said Company shall have been subscribed
the said Commissioners heretofore named, or a majority of them,
shall as soon as conveniently may be, give thirty days notice in the
papers aforesaid of the time and place by them appointed for the
subscribers to meet in order to organize the said corporation and to
