SAMUEL STEVENS, Jr. ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

Dec. Ses. 1822

bacco brought to said warehouse for inspection; and the said ware-
house when erected or prepared shall be deemed a public warehouse;
and the proprietor thereof may demand, and shall be entitled to re-
ceive one dollar lawful money for each hogshead of tobacco inspect-
ed at said warehouse, before such hogshead shall be removed, as a
full compensation for erecting or preparing the said warehouse and
keeping the same in repair, and for providing proper screws, scales,
weights, brands and marking irons, and all other things necessary for
inspecting tobacco, and for the payment of the salary or salaries of
the inspector or inspectors, that the proprietor of said warehouse
shall agree to pay; and if any tobacco shall remain in said warehouse
above one year after inspection, the proprietor of said warehouse,
may demand and shall he entitled to receive the further sum of twelve
and a half cents for every month thereafter for each hogshead that
may so remain.

Inspectors.

2. And be it enacted, That the justices of the levy court of Balti-
more county or a majority of them, shall, when the said warehouse
shall be erected or prepared and ready for the reception and inspec-
tion of tobacco, nominate and recommend in writing to the governor
and council, two, or if required by the proprietor of said warehouse,
four persons, of whom the governor with the advice and consent of
the council, is hereby authorised and required to appoint and com-
mission one out of the two, or two out of the four, to be inspector
or inspectors of the said warehouse in the manner directed by the
act, entitled, "An act to regulate the inspection of tobacco, passed
at November session, eighteen hundred and one.

Regulations.

3. And be it enacted, That the said warehouse when erected or pre-
pared, shall be in all respects under the same regulations as other
public warehouses for inspection of tobacco, in this state, by law are,
and the inspector or inspectors of said warehouse, when appointed
shall qualify and give bond, and be subject in every respect to the re-
gulations established by the said act, entitled, "An act to regulate the
inspection of tobacco, " as if the said warehouse had been establish-
ed by the said act, except where it is herein otherwise provided.

Inspectors
account.

4. And be it enacted, That every inspector appointed and acting as
such at the aforesaid warehouse, shall account quarterly or oftener if
required, with the proprietor of the said warehouse, for all money
by him received for the inspection of tobacco, and shall pay over the
same quarterly, and if required shall give bond with security to such,
proprietor, to account and pay as by this act is required.

CHAPTER 203.

An act for the benefit of the register of the court of chancery.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
register of the court of chancery, for the time being, be, and he is
hereby authorised and empowered to send out fees due to him as re-
gister o the court of chancery, for collection or execution at any
time until the twentieth day of March in each and every year, any
thing in any law to the contrary notwithstanding; Provided however,.
that every sheriff in whose hands fees shall be placed by the said re-
gister for collection, shall be allowed until the first day of August to
deliver the accounts of fees or bills of particulars to the respective
persons, and to the first day of December to account for, and pay
over the money for the said fees.
