LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Dec. Ses. 1821.

Episcopal Society, in Talbot county, called the "Lebanon Chapel,''
that from the causes set forth in said petition, they are deprived of
the provisions of the act of assembly, passed in the year 1802, enti-
tled, "An act to incorporate certain persons in every christian
church or congregation in this state—Therefore,

Powers vested.

i. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Mart/land, That the
Lebanon Society or Congregation, at the village called Trappe, in
said county, shall have, and it is hereby intended that the members
thereof be invested with all the original powers and authority to
regulate the temporal concerns of said society which they formerly
exercised, with such other powers and authority as are provided
for in the act of assembly entitled, "An act to incorporate certain
persons in every Christian church or congregation in this state," to-
gether with the several supplements thereto.

Levy—repair.

CHAPTER 69.

An act to make public two roads therein mentioned in Baltimore,
county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Baltimore county be, and they are hereby authorised
and directed to levy such sum of money as they, in their judgment
shall deem proper, to open that part of the Baltimore and Harford
turnpike road as located through the farm of Mr. Archibald Git-
tings, to the Rock Ford on the Little Gun-powder Falls; which road,
after being opened from the Great Gun-powder Falls to the Rock Ford
aforesaid, shall thereafter, together with the road leading from the
same place in a direction to Belle-Air, as far as the Baltimore coun-
ty line, be deemed public high-ways, and shall be kept in repair as
other county roads in said county are.

2. And be it enacted, That the levy court of Baltimore coun-
ty shall appoint an overseer to open that part of the said road that
passes through the aforesaid farm of Archibald Gittings.

Proviso.

3. And be it enacted, That it shall be lawful for the Balti-
more and Harford Turnpike Road Company, to take either or both
of the said roads into their possession at any time they may see pro-
per to turnpike the same; Provided, They shall give to Baltimore
county, stock in said road to the amount of the money expended by
said county in opening the said road or roads aforesaid.

CHAPTER 70.

. An act authorising the Levy Court of Washington county, to appoint
Commissioners to divide said county into seven election districts,
and for other purposes.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Levy Court of Washington county, are hereby authorised
and directed to appoint seven commissioners, whom, or a majority
of them, or in case of the death of one or more of them, a majority
of those surviving, are hereby authorised and empowered to lay oft
the said county into seven separate election districts, and that the
election for each of the said districts respectively shall be held at
the following places, to wit: at the town of Sharpsburgh, for district
No. 1; at the town of Williams-port, for district No. 2; at the
borough of Hager's-town, for district No. 3; at the village of Clear
Spring, for district No. 4; at the town of Hancock, for district No.
