LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Dec. Ses. 1821.

I council so to do; and in case of neglect, omission or refusal of the
said commissioners to deposit the money, bills, bonds, notes or
other security by them received as aforesaid, or to render account
and statements as herein before directed, the governor and council
are hereby required to put the bond of said commissioners in
suit.

ceeds &c.

4. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall,
after the expiration of sixty clays after the. conclusion of the draw-
ing of any of said lotteries, proceed to pay on demand, to the bear-
er of any ticket in said lottery which may have drawn a prize, the
amount of said prize, deducting therefrom such discount as may
be prescribed on prizes in the scheme of said lotteries; and the
said commissioners after deducting all the expenses of drawing
said lottery, shall transmit an account thereof to the governor and
council, and upon the same being approved and passed by the go-
vernor and council, the said commissioners shall forthwith pay
over to the treasurer of the western shore, the residue of the pro-
ceeds of the said lottery, to remain in the treasury subject to future
appropriation by the legislature, in such manner as to them may
seem proper.

; 5. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall re-
port to the governor and council, on or before the end of twenty
days after the expiration of twelve months after the drawing of
any lottery authorised by this act, the number and account of
the prizes which have not been demanded by the holders there of,
and which agreeable to the scheme are forfeited; and upon the said
report being approved and passed by the governor and council, the
said commissioners shall forthwith pay to the treasurer of the
western shore, the amount of prizes so remaining unclaimed, to be
appropriated as herein provided.

Salaries.

6. And be it enacted, That henceforth the yearly salaries to
be paid to the commissioners of lotteries and their clerk, shall not
exceed the sum of one thousand dollars to each commissioner, and
eight hundred dollars to their clerk, to be paid out of the net pro-
ceeds of the lotteries hereby authorised.

CHAPTER 192.

An act to provide a revenue for the support of the government of this
state.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy courts of the several counties within this state, are
hereby directed and required annually, during the continuance of
this act, to levy on the assessable property within their respective
counties, clear of the expense of collection, severally as follows:
On Somerset county, the sum of one thousand one hundred and
eight dollars; on Worcester county, the sum of nine hundred and
eighty two dollars; on Dorchester county, the sum of one thousand
one hundred and two dollars; on Talbot county, the sum of eight
hundred and twenty-eight dollars; on Queen Ann's county, the
sum of one thousand one hundred and twenty-six dollars; on Ca-
roline county, the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars; on Kent
county, the sum of eight hundred and forty-three dollars; on Cecil
county, the sum of one thousand one hundred and ninety dollars; on
Harford county, the sum of one thousand and seventy dollars; on
