Proviso.

ed to enure to the benefit and use of the said Nicholas F. P. Bence
and James C. M. De Leyritz, their executors, administrators and
assigns; Provided always, That this act, or any matter or thing
therein contained, shall not affect the right or interest of any person
or persons, in, to or out of the said lands or any part thereof, except
only the heirs and legal representatives of the said Madam Bence
Gimat, and all persons claiming, or to claim the same from, by,
through, or under them, or either of them.

Preamble.

CHAPTER 15.

1 An act for the relief of James W. Zacharie.
Whereas, It appears to the general assembly of Maryland,
that James W. Zacharie has bona fide purchased a number of
slaves from sundry citizens of this state, in order to trans-
port the same to the state of Louisiana, and that the said
negroes are now on board of the Balloon, lying in the harbor
of Baltimore; and whereas, it appears that difficulties have
arisen at the custom house in relation to the transportation of
the same, owing to the informality in the bills of sale of the said
slaves; and whereas, the honorable Nicholas Brice, chief judge of
Baltimore city court, has examined the said negroes, who acknow-
ledge themselves to be slaves; Therefore,

May transport
negroes.

Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
it shall and may be lawful for the said James W. Zacharie, to trans-
port the said negroes from this state, as if bills of sale therefor
had been executed according to the laws of this state, any law to
the contrary notwithstanding.

Levy court

CHAPTER 16.

An act for the support of Susanna Ringold, of Kent County.
Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the justices of the levy court of Kent county, be, and they
are hereby empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as
they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property
of said county, such sum of money as they shall think just and
right, for the support and maintenance of the said Susanna Rin-
gold, and that the same be collected annually, by the collector of
Kent county, and by him paid to the said Susanna Ringold, or her
order.

Powers of trus-
tees to cease.

CHAPTER 17.

' A supplement to the act entitled, An act for the relief of the Poor of
Caroline county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the last day of March next, the power of the
present trustees of the poor of Caroline county, shall cease and
determine.

Trustees nam-
ed.

2. And be it enacted, That for the time being, the several
persons hereinafter named, be, and they are hereby appointed trus-
tees for the poor within the said county, and shall be, and are here-
by empowered with full and sufficient authority to discharge the
several offices, duties and trusts, which were reposed in and requir-
ed of the trustees, by virtue of the act to which this is a supple-
ment, that is to say: Anthony Whitely, Levin Charles, William
