CHAP. 98.

of Washington county, be and are hereby changed and altered to
that of Jesse Duncan Elliott Quantrill. and it shall and may be
lawful for the said William Heyser Quantrill to be called and
known by the name of Jesse Duncan Elliott Quantrill at all times
hereafter, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAP. XCIX.
An Act relative to Female Minors.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
trustees of the poor, or the orphans court in Baltimore city and
county, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered, to
bind out poor female children in their respective alms or poor
houses, until they shall attain the age of eighteen years, or be-
come married.

CHAP. C.
An Act to empower Henry Bennett, of Worcester County, to bring into this
State certain Negro Slaves therein mentioned.
WHEREAS Henry Bennett of Worcester county, hath repre-
sented, that he is owner of three negroes, natives and residents in
the state of Virginia, by virtue of a purchase at the sale of the
personal estate of Richard Kelly, late of Norfolk county, in the
state of Virginia, deceased, the father of the wife of said Henry
Bennett; Therefore.

bring slaves into
the state.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said Henry Bennett be and he is hereby authorised and em-
powered, to bring into this state, within one year from the passage
of this act, his said negro slaves named Bridget, Nanny and Eli-
za.

Not to be sold until
they have resided
in state 3 years.
|
2. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained shall bo
construed to enable the, said Henry Bennett to sell and dispose of
the slaves imported by virtue of this act, until the said slaves shall
have resided within this state three whole years next preceding
such sale, except in cases of disposition by last will and testa-
ment, and disposition by law for bona fide debts, or consequent up-
on intestacy.

CHAP. CI.
An Act for the benefit of Thomas B. Hall, or Washington.
WHEREAS it has been represented to this general assembly, by
the petition of Thomas B. Hall, that he has been unfortunately
involved in difficulties so that he is unable to pay his debts, and
that he is also unable to procure the assent of two thirds of his
creditors, as he is indebted to the United States to a very consi-
derable amount; Therefore,

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
judges of Washington county court be and they are hereby au-
thorised and empowered, to extend to Thomas B. Hall, of Wash-
ington county, the benefit and relief of the act of assembly, pas-
sed at November session eighteen hundred and five, entitled. An
act for the relief of sundry insolvent debtors, and the supplemen-

tary acts thereto; Provided the said Thomas B. Hall shall pro-
duce the assent, according to law, of two thirds in value of his
creditors, exclusive of the debt due from him to the United States;
