CHAP. LXXVI.

A Further Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to incorporate a Company to
make a Turnpike Road from the Square in the Town of Boonsborough, in
Washington County, to Swearingen's Ferry on the Potomac River.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That from
and after the passage of this act, the president and managers of
said company be and they are hereby authorised and empowered,
to fill up any vacancy that may happen in said board of managers
by death, resignation or removal, the said managers so chosen
shall be empowered to do every and all such arts as though elect-
ed under the act to which this is a further supplement, until the
period designated for the annual election of the same shall arrive.

CHAP. LXXVII.

An Act for the Benefit of the Trustees of Garrison Forest Academy and the
Franklin Academy in Baltimore County.

WHEREAS by an act of assembly, entitled, An art for the pro-
motion of literature in this state, passed November session one
thousand seven hundred and ninety-eight, provision was made for
endowing an academy for the accommodation of Baltimore and
Harford counties, and the sum of eight hundred dollars was ap-
propriated, to be paid annually out of the treasury of the state,
for the benefit of the said Academy: And whereas the trustees
appointed by the said act, neglected to avail themselves of the
privileges thereof; but an academy was subsequently established
in Harford county, to which there has been constantly paid the
Bum of five hundred dollars: And whereas, at December session
one thousand eight hundred and seventeen, the trustees of Garri-
son Forest Academy were incorporated, and in eighteen hundred
and twenty the trustees of Franklin Academy were incorporated,
who have, at their own expense, erected suitable, buildings, and
for many years supported teachers in Garrison Forest Academy,
without any aid from the legislature; and it being reasonable that
Baltimore county should participate in the liberal donations of
the state in behalf of Academies, Therefore.

Preamble

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That there
be and hereby is appropriated the annual sum of eight hundred
dollars, to be paid by the treasurer of the western shore to the
trustees of Garrison Forest Academy, and the trustees of Frank-
lin Academy, in Baltimore county, to be equally divided between
them, or their order, for the benefit of said Academies.

CHAP. LXXVIII.

An Act for the relief of Catharine M'Kiernan, of Washington County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That all
the right and title which Francis M'Kiernan acquired by virtue
of his marriage with Catharine M'Kiernan, of Washington
county, to any property which she may become entitled to in any
way or manner whatever, be and the same is hereby annulled and
made void, and that the said Catharine M'Kiernan be and she in
hereby declared capable to have, hold, take, receive, sue for and
recover, by compromise, suit or suits in law or equity, all such
property, in as full and ample a manner as if she were a feme
sole, and had never been married, and to hold, use, and enjoy the
