CHAP. XLIV.

A Supplement to an Act passed at December session eighteen hundred and six-
teen, or the benefit of the Securities of Thomas Thompson, Collector of
Dorchester County, deceased.

CHAP. 44.
Passed Jan . 10, 1821.

WHEREAS an act, passed at December session eighteen hun-
dred and sixteen, entitled, An art tor the benefit of the securities
of Thomas Thompson, late, of Dorchester county, is found insuf-
ficient to answer the purpose for which it was intended, by rea-
son of its not authorising the commissioners of the tax for said
county to authorise the said securities to sell land fur the payment
of the tax due thereon, as is usual for collectors under the law
for collecting county charges; Therefore,

Preamble.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Commissioners of the tax for Dorchester county be and they are
hereby authorised and empowered, to authorise the securities
aforesaid to sell any land for the payment of tax due thereon
agreeably to the act, entitled, An act for the more effectual collec-
tion of the county charges in the several counties of this state,
passed at November session seventeen hundred and ninety-seven,
chapter ninety;

2. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the act to which this is a supplement be and the same is hereby
revived and be in full force until the first day of December eigh-
teen hundred and twenty-one.

CHAP. XIV.

An Act authorising the Levy Court of Queen-Anne's County to levy a sum of
Money for the purpose therein mentioned.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Queen-Anne's county, be, and they are hereby
authorised, to levy on the. assessable property of the said county,
at their next levy, the sum of one hundred dollars, to be paid
over to the commissioners of the town of Centreville, to aid them
in purchasing a fire engine, for the protection of the public and
private property of said town.

CHAP. XLVI.

A Further Supplement to the Act, entitled, An act for the erection of a new
Market House in Hagers-town, Washington County.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the moderator and commissioners of Hagerstown, be and they
are hereby authorised, to levy on the taxable property of Hagers-
town, and its additions, such sum or sums of money as will, with
the proceeds of the old court house, be sufficient to pay for pur-
chasing the site and erecting a new market house, and shall col-
lect the same in three equal annual instalments, in the years
eighteen hundred and twenty-one, twenty two, and twenty-three.

Passed Jan. 11, 1821.

Levy authorised.

2. And be it enacted, That all acts of assembly or any part or
parts thereof, inconsistent with the provisions of this act, be and
the same are hereby repealed.
