1820.

doubts having arisen whether the levy court of said county have
the power to release the bond of the said collector, and to make
a new appointment; Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
appointment of Thomas M. Hanson, by the levy court of Charles
county, as collector of the tax for said county, be and the same
is hereby confirmed and made valid.

CHAP. CLXXVII.

An Act for the relief of sundry Poor Persons in the several Counties therein
mentioned.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the several levy courts of Saint-Mary's, Montgomery, Charles,
Anne-Arundel, and Prince-George's counties, be and they are
hereby severally authorised and empowered, at their annual meet-
ing, if they shall see fit, and so long; as they shall see cause so to
do, to assess and lev\ on the assessable property of said counties,
for the use of the several persons herein mentioned, the sums of
money annexed to their respective names, to wit: In St. Mary's
county, for Mary Norris, payable to herself, or order, and for
her own use, the sum of thirty dollars; for William Brown, paya-
ble to himself, or order, for the use of his wife, thirty dollars; for
William Mason, an afflicted boy. thirty dollars, payable to his
mother, or order; for Sarah Neale, payable to herself, or or-
der, for the use of her idiot son Henry Clarke, thirty dollars; for
Sarah Brown, payable to herself, or order, thirty dollars; for
Charles C. Cullings, payable to himself, or order, thirty dollars.
In Montgomery county, for Nicholas Hany, payable to himself,
or order, thirty dollars; for Eleanor Wheeler, payable to herself,
or order, thirty dollars; for Walter Simms, payable to himself, or
order, thirty dollars; for James M'Coy, payable to himself, or
order, for the use of his daughter Sarah, twenty dollars; for
Eleanor Barrett, payable to herself, or order, thirty dollars; for
Elizabeth Kisby, payable to herself, or order, thirty dollars; for
Richard Johnson, payable to himself, or order, for the use of his
unfortunate daughter, forty-five dollars; for Joseph Radcliff, paya-
ble to himself, or order, twenty dollars. In Anne-Arundel county,
for Richard Odle, payable to himself, or order, thirty dollars; for
Elizabeth Purdy, payable to herself, or order, forty dollars; for
Caleb Warfield. payable to himself, or order, thirty dollars; for
Elizabeth M'Coy, payable to herself, or order, forty dollars; for
Leonard Lambeth, payable, to himself, or order, thirty dollars;
for Lotty Stallings, payable to herself, or order, twenty dollars;
for Grace Cann, payable to herself, or order, twenty dollars; for
Louanna Gooter, payable to herself, or order, forty dollars; for
Elizabeth Aisquith, or her order, twenty dollars; for Ann Holly-
dayoke, for her grand-child Jane Parish, payable to herself, or
order, thirty dollars; for Sarah Welch, payable to herself, or or-
der, thirty dollars; for Mary Wells, to herself, or order, thirty-
dollars; for Mary Wells, (of Annapolis, widow of late Daniel Wells
Jr.) to herself, or order, thirty dollars; to Willy Reynolds, thirty
dollars, payable to her or her order. In Prince-George's county for
Dennis Curtain, payable to himself, or order, thirty dollars; for Ra-
chael Webb, payable to herself, or order, twenty dollars; for
