AN ACT to authorise William Johnson, a free
negro, of Calvert county, to dispose of his real
and personal estate by last will and testament.
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, It is represented to this General As-
sembly, that William Johnson, a free negro,
of Calvert county, has by his industry, economy
and good conduct acquired certain real and
personal estate in said county, which ho is de-
sirous of transmitting by his last will and tes-
tament, but which under existing laws of this
State he is unable to do, therefore,

Authorised to
dispose of.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the said William Johnson
be and he is hereby authorised to devise, bequeath
and dispose of his said real and personal estate
by his last will and testament; and the person or
persons to whom he may devise or bequeath the
same, are hereby authorized and empowered to
have, hold, occupy, possess, inherit and enjoy the
said real and personal estate as fully as the law-
ful descendants of other persons now do, any law,
usage, or custom to the contrary notwithstanding.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Citizen's Fire Insu-
rance Company of the city of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Edwin A. Abbott, Alien
Clarice, James M. Lester, Nathan T. Dushane,
Thomas Rensett, George Washington Holmes,
and such other persons as may hereafter become
associated with them in the manner hereinafter
