General Assembly, passed at January session,
eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter two
hundred and two, a further appropriation of
ten thousand dollars per year, for the space of
six years, comencing with the year eighteen
hundred and fifty-two, was made, and the Trea-
surer of the State was directed to pay the same
oh the warrant of the Comptroller to the said
board of managers appointed as aforesaid; And
whereas, it is desirable that an appropriation
should be renewed and continued, so that the
policy of the State in providing a home in Af-
rica, for the emancipated slaves and free color-
ed population, may be maintained and carried
on; Therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the State
be and he is hereby required to pay, on the war-
rant of the Comptroller, to the board of mana-
gers appointed under the act of eighteen hun-
dred and thirty-one, chapter two hundred and
eighty-one, the sum of five thousand dollars an-
nually, for the space of four years, commencing
with the year eighteen hundred and fifty-eight,
to be appropriated for the purposes in the said act
mentioned.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer
of the State, be and he is hereby requested to
pay, on the warrant of the Comptroller, to the
said board of managers, the further sum of sev-
enty dollars for each emancipated slave or tree
negro, male or female, above the age of ten years,
and the sum of thirty-five dollars for each of
such persons under the age of ten years, who
shall appear by the written certificate of the
said board of managers, filed by them in the
office of the Comptroller of the State, to have
been sent by them to Africa, within the period of
two months immediately preceding the date of
