CHAPTER 321.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to authorise the County Commissioners
of Cecil county, to increase their annual levy,
so as to pay the current expenses of the county
within the year.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the County Commission-
ers, of Cecil county be, and they are hereby au-
thorised and required, at their next levy, to levy
for the county expenses due or incurred within
the year eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, and by
estimate, for one fourth of the expenses due or
falling due, within the year eighteen hundred and
fifty-eight.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the County
Commissioners aforesaid, are further authorised
and required to levy, in the year eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-nine, for the balance of the county
expenses due or incurred, in the year eighteen
hundred and fifty-eight, and for one half of what
shall be estimated to be required for the year
eighteen hundred and fifty-nine, and they shall
levy, in the year eighteen hundred and sixty, for
the balance of county expenses remaining due for
the year eighteen hundred and fifty-nine, and
three-fourths of what shall be estimated to be
required, for the year eighteen hundred and sixty,
and they shall levy, in the year eighteen hundred
and sixty-one, the balance of said expenses due
for the year eighteen hundred and sixty, and the
whole of what, by estimate, shall be required for
the year eighteen hundred and sixty-one.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That from and after
the year eighteen hundred and sixty-one, the said
Commissioners shall levy, in each and every year
a sum, which they shall ascertain by a careful
estimate to be sufficient to pay all the current ex-
penses of the said county for that year; Provided,
that it shall be the duty of the said Commission-
ers to apply the moneys levied as aforesaid in each,
and every year, first, to the payment of State
witnesses and jurors, and then to such other coun-
ty expenses as said Commissioners may deem pro-
per to apply the same.
