CHAPTER 280.

AN ACT to authorise Incorporated Churches,
Congregations and Religious Societies, to sell
and convey their property .

8, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That any corporation or trus-
tees, and their successors established, or to be
established, in virtue of an act of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at the December
session, eighteen hundred and two, chapter one
hundred and eleven, entitled, "an act to incorpo-
rate certain persons in every Christian Church or
congregation in the State, and the several supple-
ments thereto," shall be, and they are hereby
capable in law to sell and convey absolutely,
mortgage or dispose of all or any part of the
property, real, personal or mixed, which is now
or may hereafter be vested in or owned by such

corporation or trustees, or their successors; Pro-
vided however, that the provisions of this act shall
not be construed to authorise any sale, mortgage,
or other disposition of any property held by such
corporation or trustees, under any gift, grant, or
devise, whereby such sale, mortgage or other dis-
position is prohibited or restrained.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after its passage.
