Exempted from
taxation.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That this company
shall be exempted from all taxation, as granted
to the several Mutual Fire Insurance Companies,
in chapter three hundred and thirty-nine, page
five hundred and twenty-four, passed January
session eighteen hundred and fifty-six.

Reservation.

SEC. 22. And be it enacted, That this act of
incorporation shall inure for twenty years from
the date of its passage and until the end of the
next session of the Legislature thereafter, and
that the Legislature reserves to itself the right to
amend or repeal said act at pleasure.

In force.

SEC. 23. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 224.

AN ACT to make valid a deed from John Staf-
ford and wife to Richard J. Draper.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, It is represented to the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That John Stafford and
wife, of Caroline county, by deed bearing date
on the third day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and fifty-six, deeded to Richard J.
Draper, of the county aforesaid, a certain tract
of land lying and being in said county, and it
is further represented, that the said deed was
made and executed in accordance with law,
but was not recorded within the time prescribed
by law; Therefore,

Made valid.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the aforesaid deed, be and
the same is hereby declared to be as good, valid
and effectual in law, to pass the tract of land
therein mentioned, as if the said deed had been
duly recorded according to the acts of Assembly
