appealing shall pay the whole expenses incurred
thereby.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the right of ju-
risdiction of the State of Maryland in and over the
land aforesaid be and the same is hereby relinquished,

nevertheless, to the State of Maryland concurrent

SBC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall be taken or understood to prevent the
authorised agent of the United States from making
a purchase of the property that may be required for
the establishment of said light house, dwelling, out-
houses, and a garden patch.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the property so
purchased and not exceeding ten acres shall be ceded
to the said United States in the same manner as if
the commissioners had met, valued, and condemned
the property.

go into effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER. 53.

In force.

AN ACT relative to the establishment of a Light
House on Love Point on Kent Island in Queen
Anne's county, and to cede to the United States
the jurisdiction of the State of Maryland into and
over a site for the same.

6, 1856.

WHEREAS, the navigation of the Chesapeake Bay
at the mouth of Chester River, requires for its
safety, the establishment of a Light House; and
whereas the Government of the United States, has
made an adequate appropriation for that object,
