AN ACT to repeal an act entitled, an act to regu-
late the meetings of the Orphan's Court of How-
ard county and the compensation of the Judges
thereof, passed April session, eighteen hundred and
fifty-two, chapter seventy-three, and to provide for
the future meetings of said court.

Repealed.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That an act passed at April session,
eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter seventy-
three, entitled, an act to regulate the meetings of the
Orphan's Court of Howard county, and the compen-
sation of the Judges, be and the same is hereby re-
pealed.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Orphan's
Court of Howard county shall be held on the first
and third Tuesday of every month, and oftener, if
need be, according to its own adjournment; and any
one of the Judges of said Court, in the absence of
the others, shall have power to hold the said Court
at a stated time of adjournment, only for the purpose
of adjourning; any two of them shall have full pow-
er to do any act which the said Court is or shall be
authorised by law to perform, and any two of them
shall have power to hold Court, on any day not
named in adjournment, on the application of any
person having pressing business in the said Court ;

Proviso.
|
Provided, notice be given to all of said Judges, and
in such case the Register shall record that such notice
hath been given.
|

Compensa-
tion.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the compensation
of each Judge of the Orphan's Court of Howard
county shall be two dollars and fifty cents for each
and every day of his attendance, and if he shall re-
side more than one mile from the Court house in said
county, such Judge shall receive, in addition to his
per diem, mileage at the rate of five cents for each
mile of necessary travel, going and returning from
each of their respective meetings; Provided, however,
That mileage shall not be allowed more than once
for a protracted session of more than two days.

SEC. 4 . And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
|
