CHAPTER 271.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT for the relief of Susan Smallwood, a free
negro woman, of the District of Columbia.
|
Passed March
10, 1856.
|
|
|
WHEREAS, it has been represented to this General
Assembly of Maryland, that Susan Smallwood, (a
superannuated free negro woman,) of the District
of Columbia, is desirous of returning to this State,
and the descendants of those that liberated her are
anxious that she should do so, and are willing to
support her; therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Susan Smallwood, a free negro
woman of the District of Columbia, may and is here-
by at liberty to return to the State of Maryland, and
thereby be entitled to the same rights and privileges
as the free colored population are now entitled to un-
der the laws of this State.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall go
into effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT for the relief of David Marsh, of Carroll
county.
|

|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the county commissioners of
Carroll county be and they are hereby authorised
and. required to levy on the assessable property of
said county the sum of fifty dollars annually, for the
use of David Marsh, an insane pauper, living in said
county, so long as the same may be necessary for
his support.
