purchase of bills of exchange, notes of hand or spe-
cie shall not be considered borrowing within the
meaning of this act.

May receive
deposites.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration shall have power to receive from any person
or persons any deposits or deposites of money and
shall allow for the same interest to the depositor or
depositors thereof, as may from time to time be pro-
vided for by the by-laws of the corporation or order-
ed by the president and directors thereof.

Subject to re-
strictions and
limitations.

SEC. 16. And he it enacted, That the bank hereby
authorised shall be subject to all the restrictions and
limitations contained in an act passed at January
session, eighteen hundred and fifty-three, chapter 441,
entitled, an act to continue the corporate existence of
the several banking institutions therein mentioned,
and also an act passed at January session, eighteen
hundred and fifty-lour, chapter one hundred and fifty-
two.

Reservation.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
hereby reserves the right to alter, amend, modify, or
repeal this act at pleasure.

In force.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 212.

AN ACT to authorise the county commissioners of
Allegany county, to hear and determine the appeal
of John Everett of said county, in regard to the
valuation and assessment of a tract of land known
in the assessment list as the property "Tidball's
heirs" or "Clement," assessed under the act pass-
ed at January session, eighteen hundred and fifty
two, chapter three hundred and thirty seven.

Preamble.

WHEREAS James Tidball, late of Allegany county,
died, seized, of a certain tract of land containing
four hundred and fifty four and one fourth acres,
named "Clement," which at the late assessment of
real estate was valued at fifty eight hundred dol-
