SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 197.

Passed Mar.
8, 1856.

AN ACT to authorise the clerk of the Circuit Court
for Howard county, to have one of the index books
in his office rebound.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, one of the index books in the office of
the clerk of the Circuit Court for Howard county,
is in a dilapidated condition and requires being re-
bound; therefore,

Authorised to
remove.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That William H. Worthington,
clerk of the Circuit Court for Howard county, be
and he is hereby authorised to remove said book to
the city of Baltimore, and have it rebound.

Authorised to
levy.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers of said county be and they are hereby authorised
and required to levy upon the assessable property of
said county, a sufficient sum to pay the cost and ex-
penses incurred for the rebinding of said book.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT relating to masters of vessels, sailors, and
apprentices.

and imprison-
ment.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That any person, either on ship-
