the General Assembly thereafter.

CHAPTER 144.

AN ACT to make valid and effectual the devise and
provisions contained in the last will and testament
of John K. Rowe, dec'd, for the benefit of the Bap-
tist Church in the village of Hereford, by granting
the leave of the Legislature thereto, and creating
a corporate body by the name of the Trustees of
the Baptist Church, in the village of Hereford, in
Baltimore county, as an essential agency for that
purpose.

8, 1856.

WHEREAS, John K. Rowe, by his last will and testa-
ment, dated the twenty-first December, eighteen
hundred and fifty-three, duly proved, and recorded
in the office of the Register of Wills of Baltimore
county, in Wills Liber J. L. R., No. 1, folios 126,
&c., directed his executors to sell, subject to an
annual ground-rent of three dollars per front foot,
two houses and lots on Camden street, in Balti-
more City, therein described, of which he died
seized in fee; the rent to be paid in half yearly in-
stalments, and appropriated to the salary of a min-
ister to preach in the Baptist Church in the village
of Hereford, of the same faith and order as the
Maryland Baptist Union Association, until such
time as the said Church should be able to sustain
itself, when the ground-rent is to go to the Amer-
ican and Foreign Bible Society of New York, of
which he was a life-member; and whereas, it is
the object of this law to give effect, to so much of
the will of said testator as is set forth in the above
recital, &c.; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the leave of the Legislature be
