Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Elections", sub-
title "Elections", said new section to be known as Section 95 (d-1),
to follow immediately after Section 95 (d) thereof, and to read as
follows:
95. (d-1). In a general election in Baltimore County the names
of all candidates nominated shall appear in adjacent rows or col-
umns containing generally the names of candidates nominated listed
alphabetically, under the office for which nominated and irrespective
of party affiliation.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
This bill was passed at the 1955 session of the General Assembly
and was vetoed by the Governor on April 28, 1955. Under the pro-
visions of Section 17 of Article 2 of the State Constitution, bills vetoed
after adjournment of the Legislature must be returned by the Gov-
ernor to the next regular or special session of the General Assembly.
The bill was repassed over the Governor's veto by the Senate on
February 2,1956, and by the House of Delegates on February 6,1956.
Under the constitutional provisions it becomes effective on June 1,
1956.

(Senate Bill 533)
AN ACT to add Section 3A to Article 73B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Pensions", said new section to
follow immediately after Section 3 thereof, relating to the mem-
bership in the State Employees' Retirement System of certain
elected or appointed officials.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3A be and it is hereby added to Article 73B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Pensions", said
new section to follow immediately after Section 3 thereof, and to
read as follows:
3A. Any member of the Retirement System who is currently a
member by virtue of being an elected or appointed official shall
have the right at his option to continue membership in the System
following the end of the term of office for which he was last elected
or appointed. Such right shall be contingent upon such person mak-
ing all the payments which would have been made by him and also
by the State had he continued to be a member of the System by
virtue of holding such elective or appointed office.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1955.
