House Bill No. 70—Student Union Building, University of Maryland

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 243 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Public Education", sub-title "University of Maryland", au-
thorizing the inclusion, of dormitory facilities and living accom-
modations in a student union building, heretofore authorized to
be constructed in Baltimore City, and authorizing the University
of Maryland to receive and accept grants, contributions and assist-
ance in connection with the facilities authorized to be constructed.

This Bill is identical with Senate Bill No. 4, passed during the
Special Session of the General Assembly on March 8th, and which is
now Chapter 4 of the Acts of 1956.

Therefore, House Bill No. 70 is vetoed.

House Bill No. 100—Boards of Managers of Training Schools

AN ACT to repeal Sections 33 and 34 of Article 88A of the Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "State Department of Public Wel-
fare", sub-title "Training Schools for Delinquent Children", and to
enact a new Section 33 in lieu thereof to follow immediately after
Section 32 of said sub-title; and to repeal and re-enact, with amend-
ments, Sections 32 and 35 of said Article and sub-title, abolishing
the several boards of managers of the several training schools for
delinquent children, providing that the State Department of Public
Welfare have general authority to administer and determine the
policies of the operation of said training schools, creating an ad-
visory board for training schools and specifying the members and
powers thereof, and relating generally to the control, supervision,
operation and policies of the several training schools for delinquent
children in this State.
