the provisions of this sub-title, and at the direction of the State
Agency shall pay all [warrants] vouchers drawn upon [it] them in
accordance with the provisions of this section and with such regula-
tions as the State Agency may prescribe pursuant thereto.

(e)   There is hereby established a special fund to be known as the
Expense Fund. Such fund shall consist of and there shall be deposited
in such fund all monies received from political subdivisions as their
pro-rata share of expenses under Section SU (d) (3). From said fund,
payments shall be made by the State Treasurer or by the Deputy
Treasurer only upon vouchers signed by two persons designated by
the Board of Trustees in such amounts and at such time or times as
may be directed by the State Agency as may be incurred as an ex-
pense by the State Agency in the administration of this sub-title.

(f)    At the time the amendment to Section 35 to provide for a
separate Expense Fund becomes effective the State Agency is au-
thorized to transfer any expense monies then in the Contribution Fund
to the Expense Fund.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1956.

CHAPTER 110
(House Bill 69)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 8 (10a)
of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edi-
tion), title "Pensions", sub-title "Benefits", providing that any
person who, while being a member of the State Employees' Re-
tirement System, has been or may hereafter be appointed or
elected to any position within the State Government not a part
of the classified service and not covered by the provisions of
Article 64A (Merit System) may, under certain circumstances,
elect to have accumulated contributions paid in an annuity of
equivalent actuarial value.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 8 (10a) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Pensions", sub-title "Benefits", be
and is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

(10a) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Article,
if any person, while being a member of the State Employees' Retire-
ment System, has been or may hereafter be appointed or elected to
any State office, or promoted to any position within the State gov-
